Supper Clubs became popular in the 1930’s in the Upper Midwest, as a dining establishment typically located on the edge of town in rural areas. They would offer simple menus where patrons would go to spend an entire evening, drinking, eating and enjoying some entertainment. In recent years, Supper Clubs have become popular in cities, where someone would host it in their home, beginning with friends until word would spread and it would then become a social gathering of friends, neighbors, and strangers.
Our version at Jose O’Connor’s is slightly different. We intend to limit the number of guests to 30 and dine at one or two long tables for guests to mingle with others. The menu is a set “prix fixe” (fixed price) and hopefully will demonstrate what Jose and I have learned in our past restaurant experiences and truly have a passion for creating, something different and extraordinary that you will not find in the North Country.
We urge you to give our Supper Club a try. Our hopes is that it becomes popular enough that we can offer them every two months or so and create a different cuisine each time.
